My wife, Valerie, was a Suffolk head teacher but when we were both retired we were able to devote more time, and to become more involved in, Upbeat.

In 2012 I succeeded the late David Williams as editor of the Upbeat magazine – a job I continue to do and to enjoy. Valerie became Treasurer and Membership Secretary some years ago and I took on the job of minuting Executive Committee meetings so we are both very involved and informed regarding Upbeat.

We try to attend most Upbeat functions and to support the group as much as possible. Our previous Chairperson, Sylvia Baker, has given sterling service for many years and will be a hard act to follow but, with the help of the Committee I hope to be able to continue her fine work.
